Wednesdays, 6:30-8:00 p.m.

More than 300 children and their leaders are “hiding God’s word in their hearts” every week with Awana Clubs at First Baptist Snellville.  Club meetings are held during the school year on Wednesday nights from 6:30 – 8:00pm.  Registration is open each Wednesday at 5:45pm in the FCC.

The primary goal of AWANA is to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ.  AWANA is an acronym that stands for “Approved Workmen are Not Ashamed”.  It comes from 2 Timothy 2:15, where Paul encouraged Timothy to study God’s word in order to show himself approved.

Our AWANA program offers five different club experiences for the age levels below.  Each club uses a variety of age appropriate activities to help clubbers:

    Memorize Scripture
Experience quality Bible messages from master storytellers
Participate in high-energy individual and team competition
Develop and awareness of mission projects locally and oversees and encourage participation in
    missions related projects and activities
Have fun and develop important relationships with friends and caring adults

Experiences in AWANA foster a deep commitment to Christ and a genuine love for God’s word.  Parents are asked to volunteer at least once a month by listening to verses that have been memorized.  In addition, we are seeking adult volunteers to become leaders and helpers each Wednesday night as well as volunteers for special events that occur infrequently outside of Wednesday night club time.  Certified Leaders and Helpers will receive ½ off their clubber REGISTRATION fees.  To qualify for the discount you must be a certified leader. See section on “Volunteers” below for further information.

It’s never too late to register for Awana!  The registration table is located in the FCC on Wednesday nights.  You can begin registering your clubbers at 6:00pm.  Please note that registration and photo/medical release forms are available for download on this website.  We recommend that you download these forms and fill them out prior to coming in to help you save some time that night.  However, it is not necessary as we do have these forms at the registration table as well.

The Registration Fees are as follows:
Puggles $15.00,  Cubbies $25.00,  Sparks $30, and T&T $35.
(Note:  There is a family maximum of $60 for REGISTRATION fees only – Uniforms and replacement products are not included in this family maximum)

Certified Leaders and Helpers will receive ½ off their REGISTRATION fees.  To qualify for the discount you must be certified within 2 weeks of volunteering.

Please be sure to download the forms, complete them ahead of time.  This will significantly reduce the time you will spend during registration.  Don’t forget to bring your checkbooks.  Payment is due at registration.

The primary goal of AWANA is to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ.  We need your help to do this.  If you have a heart for children and a desire to reach ONE MORE for Christ, then we encourage you to volunteer.

Currently we are in need of over 30 volunteers across our clubs.

Training for leaders and helpers is being offered on July 30th, 2011 from 9am – 3pm in the FCC.  Lunch will be provided.  Please contact Carla Mitchell at 770-978-5717 or cmitchell@fbcsnell.org  to sign up for the training and to allow us to provide you with a training handbook prior to the event.

If you are interested in serving please download and complete the attached packet of forms and return them to Carla Mitchell.  You will also have to obtain a background/screening form packet to complete.  You will not be able to serve until you have been cleared through the screening process.  Please be sure to complete these screening forms in their entirety and include a copy of your driver’s license for processing.

Awana has several special events during the year that we need help with.  These events are just a few weeks long and generally occur on Saturdays.  It’s a great way to serve in Awana if you are unable to serve for the full 32 weeks or if you can’t serve on Wednesday nights.

We are currently looking for volunteers to head up our Grand Prix event.  Those volunteers should be skilled in working with power tools and have some knowledge of computers.  Until we have these volunteers in place we cannot hold this event.

We will also have Bible Quiz on February 4th, 2012 and Awana Games/Sparks A Rama on March 3rd, 2012.  If you are interested in helping in these special events, please contact Nandini Mangroo at nandinim@comcast.net
